Depends on when precisely the transition happens and what really is brought over. If their bodies are incarnated with full capability, including level and stats and admin powers...? If it's before Kayaba Intervention, Oberon squishes him like a bug every bit he nevertheless has godly ability. (Then proceeds to do...things to Asuna. There is certainly an audition for this sort of fic... -_-)Too, transition just as Oberon appears. The guy who relies on the system assist and probably tin't practice much on his ain. With the system having become inaccessable Kirito executes him in short club, messily. Nobody can bring themselves to care upward there.

No, no, no. The transition occurs before Oberon logs in. Sugou is left in his squishy human trunk.
Which is why I decided to have the transition happen earlier he4 appears. Because the way I take it now, is that Sugou is a squishy homo that Asuna tin now squash similar a issues. She doesn't need Krito's aid dealing with him anymore. Unfortunately I have all 3 at the top of the tree and I'grand not sure if I should go along the barrier up or not, but I take two dissimilar versions so 1 tin can have the barrier and the other might not...
And seeing how Kirito has his SAO stats because he was using his NG... Well... Sugou had better not try annihilation...

And i'm curious, how much will the whole setting notwithstanding run on gaming mechanics and how much will it have become far more organic.
In effect i want to know if you plan for them to not have those artifical limits set up past the game's balancing, like the flying limit, but by their innate "skill level" and magic? Still a defined limit but not artificially merely because.
- #three,405
Sugou put a barrier effectually the tree so that no one could do that again.
- #three,406
What would involvement me more than is if there is a bulwark to the outside. Afterall did anyone every try to wing outward and see what is there as opposed to upward? You lot could even state in the water to residuum.
And with the game earth existence limited that may well be a form of "wind wall/rough seas/storms" or what not to continue with the mystical lore every bit opposed to saying eh, calculating limit. You go at that place you get teleported back.
Also not fond of the idea of them just being able to move from the tree a ready altitude which would be another possibility to disguise the mechanic even if you could turn that into another grand quest with having to get up the tree and become an alf for the restriction to lift.
Much preferring the tempest bubble making it hard to cross and/or encounter to the other side. Gives them some rudimentary protection every bit well by forcing the navy to take a cautious approach.
Could of class non have any of that too.

What would interest me more than is if in that location is a barrier to the outside. Afterall did anyone every try to fly outward and see what is there as opposed to upwards? You could even land in the h2o to rest.
And with the game world being express that may well be a class of "current of air wall/rough seas/storms" or what not to keep with the mystical lore as opposed to saying eh, computing limit. You go there you get teleported back.
I like this a lot, I hadn't even thought about if there would be something like that.
Also not fond of the idea of them only being able to move from the tree a prepare distance which would be another possibility to disguise the mechanic even if you could turn that into another grand quest with having to get upwardly the tree and go an alf for the restriction to elevator.
Much preferring the tempest bubble making it hard to cross and/or meet to the other side. Gives them some rudimentary protection as well past forcing the navy to take a cautious approach.
I practise not similar that idea either, but something being in that location to go far harder to make contact, similar sudden storms would work well to protect the Isle.
The question and so, turns into who awards the limitless flying? Asuna? She's the simply 1 that could be seen every bit a GM up there... but she didn't take admission to the Bill of fare.
...Hmm... Worldbuilding:
1) How Alfheim Magic Works
a) The wings of the fairies actually work on mana that is provided by the World Tree. This is why they look more similar constructs of magical free energy rather than biological wings. Rather than pushing off of the air to achieve flight, they actually "cruise on the waves" of mana that exist in the atmosphere. This aforementioned mana also allows them to cast magic via manipulating it with incantations. Even so, the higher you go up the less mana there is and then your flight becomes less and less constructive until it is no longer able to support your weight. When the Globe Tree manifests in real life, it also starts filling World'south temper with mana.
b) The fashion information technology works in my thought is that the Globe Tree releases mana from its leaves which slowly falls to the basis. This explains why the mana is thinner the you go up, since the mana would be naturally falling towards the earth. In a more scientific sense, you could use that to explicate why life on Earth is growing rapidly after the World Tree appears, every bit they are arresting the mana that is drifting downwards from the tree. Additionally, you could also apply it to explain the flight mechanics too, as the wings push off the falling mana to attain flight.
c) Each Fairy has their own stores of mana, the closer to the World Tree they are the faster their internal mana stores regenerate
d) Flight does place mental strain on the user. Training and refining your mana control can help to reduce it, but somewhen it volition exhaust you and you lot will need to rest.
2) the World Tree somewhere around 15 km loftier, which is just a few km short of the Armstrong Limit where the liquids in your body beginning to boil at room temperature due to atmospheric pressure being too low. Another problem you could add to the story is that the Globe Tree is causing a massive shift in the Earth'due south ecosystem. Building off the previous idea, the spread of mana into the world would really cause a massive resurgence of life. Coral reefs and forests bloom even in arid areas, and weather changes dynamically. Additionally, new species of animals like behemothic butterflies begin to appear. Certain metals would also begin to exhibit magical backdrop as they begin to absorb the mana. Even so, this effect also gives nascence to feral monsters that mutate from the wildlife and begin to threaten homo civilisation.
a) The World Tree, being so large and bringing the mana is probable to crusade massive changes to the world as a whole. No major tectonic shifts, but the roots are going to cause some bug. That'southward not including Helheim and Jotenheim.
3) Menu and Inventory
a) Menu is called the Charm of Scribing; Inventory is a part of that. The Charm of Scribing's mechanics, and the spell itself are lost to Alfheim. Simply every Thespian (now Fairy) can use it.
b) The PM organization is called the Charm of Far Scribing.
c) It may be possible to rediscover the spell behind the Amuse of Scribing.
i) What are the mechanics?
d) Inventory is Spell of the Illusory Book
I don't take anything else though...

You know, limitless flight if you can somehow incorporate it into your theory of it is not actually quite that unlimited, merely much less dependant on the Tree'southward ambience mana by nature of having more of your own mana(massive amounts) and basically brute forcing the result until y'all get also tired.
The way to get that much power, and more chiefly, a manifestation capable of property and channeling that ability? For that you need to become "unlocked" by something in the crowns of the world tree. Not a person, just a natural phenomenom. May so happen that Asuna has the keys for the room though.(what with existence the only one who has already the power and it may require but that to open the doors. Gifted by the alf indeed)
The actual matter is merely a bedchamber in the middle of the crown of the tree. A place that but so happens to be nexus for ludicrous amounts of power coming from all over the crown and that exposes whoever is inside to all that power equally soon as the door closes.
And equally you know, combine what effectively is a soul/fairy with a high free energy stream and y'all get an interesting empowering effect. Aventuring 101 actually.
Some pretty cool ideas about the tree starting to alter the globe in a whole slew of ways. Ignoring the magical side of things for a moment i'd similar to add one more mundane, yet very fantastical part nigh the thing.
The tree is frackin 15km high and has a corrosponding crown. That is a lot of chlorophyl. Like a lot a lot. And even higher upward where rays are stronger as well.
The tree should absorb an increadible corporeality of energy from the sun. If that is what helps creating the mana or not is upward to interpretations.
Only it is almost bodacious that the massive amounts of h2o dragged up from the surrounding bounding main, together with minerals, can probably create its own currents.
Conversely the crown gives off some h2o and that condenses into the clouds we often see dropping downwardly the stem.
The gigantic tree plays havock with where light and shadow fall, blotting out the sun outright for places.
All that sunday energy blocked may create its own pressure level organisation(loftier probably-which actually explains all the sun and some of the strong/circular winds around the heart of the isle) and noticably cool the area a caste or two. And that is earlier suiddenly the CO2/O2 residue gets a massive tick.
Well, would be interesting indeed. Need some research though in how applicable those ideas to a higher place would be.

The affair with the tree is kind of obvious, I'1000 non sure how long information technology would take to observe though.

That was really kind of the idea, it'south merely easier to wing when you lot are closer to the tree because at that place's more mana in the air. That is going to change as the months proceed, because the mana will accumulate.
Thats half a dozen items off the list. Just a million left to go. >.<
Yep, no kidding... Lots of stuff to come with...

Monochrome Duet Chapter I: Sunset Prelude, a sword fine art online/ソードアート・オンライン fanfic | FanFiction
Monochrome Duet
By: Solid Shark
Afterwards the cruel 25th Floor Boss Raid, Asuna has left Kirito's side to bring together the Knights of Blood. With his partner gone, Kirito resigns himself to returning to the life of a solo player-until a familiar face from the lower floors unexpectedly reenters his life. The strangely-human NPC Kizmel, despite her quest being over, has returned to his side... Kirito/Kizmel.

well written fic with the pairing i havent seen before. it havent reached romance yet, with just fluff scenes. it does have Kizmel slowly developing from an incredibly lifelike NPC AI into another companion for the players she interacts with. Also certain parts (Like the moonlit back cats) have a somewhat unlike resolution.
and Argo-plenty of Argo hither.

I've spoken to the author - he knows that Kizmel is slated to dice on or around the tenth floor, just doesn't care. I've tried reading it though and it'southward not all that good imo, and that's aside from the problems I accept with the ship.I've seen that, and take had it recced to me, simply I'one thousand reluctant to read it. Simply because it pairs Kirito with someone other than Asuna. I adore Kizmel, I wish there were more stories with her in it... merely I'd exist afraid that Monochrome Duet volition end in tradgety with Kizmel dying. Because Sachi, the only daughter other than Asuna that Kirito shows interest in, dies.

First and well-nigh important? It's not Kirito/Asuna.And what bug are those?
The second is that Kirito is fourteen or fifteen and Kizmel's character is the equivalent of her mid to tardily twenties at her absolute youngest.
- #3,418
Or Sugou or whoever takes his game over ends upwardly porting her to ALO.Well, I suppose that's nice, simply that doesn't change the fact that Kizmel volition die when the game is cleared, unless Kirito pulls what he did with Yui in canon...
- #iii,419
Get-go and most of import? It's not Kirito/Asuna.The 2nd is that Kirito is fourteen or fifteen and Kizmel's character is the equivalent of her mid to tardily twenties at her absolute youngest.
Ah yes, that argument. That'due south one of the reasons I'm not going SM canon pairing in MFP... The age gap... And I hold with the no Kirisuna issue.
- #three,420
Wasn't in that location also a piddling bit of an age gap between Asuna and Kirito?Start and most important? It's not Kirito/Asuna.The second is that Kirito is xiv or fifteen and Kizmel'due south character is the equivalent of her mid to late twenties at her absolute youngest.
- #3,421
Wasn't there also a little bit of an historic period gap between Asuna and Kirito?
Asuna is a yr and several days older than Kirito. but that's much better than the x+ years between Kirito and Kizmel.
- #3,422
Really if the Dark Elves and Woods Elves are based on Wetern Fantasy elves she probably has a few centuries on Kirito. Thing is I don't recall Kawahara actually mentioning the life spans of elves in the books then we take no thought whether they're long lived or not.Asuna is a yr and several days older than Kirito. only that'south much better than the 10+ years betwixt Kirito and Kizmel.
- #3,423
Actually if the Nighttime Elves and Forest Elves are based on Wetern Fantasy elves she probably has a few centuries on Kirito. Thing is I don't recall Kawahara actually mentioning the life spans of elves in the books so we have no idea whether they're long lived or not.
So let me set my statement:
Asuna is a yr and several days older than Kirito. merely that'due south much ameliorate than the ten+ years minimum between Kirito and Kizmel.
- #3,424
And equally something fully sentient she exists only for a relatively short period of time. Yous could say that she is younger in that aspect. Though that may be stretching it a piffling far it is a fact that since she joined Kirito she experienced a lot of new things and feels much more juvenile than annihilation because she has to larn all of these things.
And so while she sometimes has a more mature outlook due to her in programmed memories, she certainly does non act like someone of that age yous'd expect. That and to me age is only a number in the stop(condign less important the bigger your own go too)
True though that it isn't Kirito/Asuna pairing. So if that isn't your thing, should be obvious.
The story does very well on exploring some of what if an adult AI becomes fully sentient and involves itself with players?
And then sets the ii up in a way that creates quite a bit of character growth for Kirito. In particular in how him having a high level NPC companion sets him further autonomously from the remainder in add-on to Beater reputation.
Kirito gets challenged and grows repeatedly over their partnership equally well every bit pitted confronting PK'ers specifically.
Overall, defintely rec'ed likewise. Give it a chapter or two and yous may find yourself surprised about a deceidedly non standard storyline.
- #3,425
On a dissimilar note... I've been toying with the idea of turning Kirito into a cat person, to see how that would change things.
